GREENSBORO, N.C. (2/7/24) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team went 5-0 on day two of the Stallings Invitational and enters bracket play Sunday second among 18 teams.
A-State (69-19) opened the day with a 993-956 victory over No. 6 Nebraska and followed it up with the third-highest traditional match total of the season with a 1,149-514 margin against Florida A&M. The Red Wolves closed out the day with a 1,023-1,011 victory against No. 13 Mount St. Mary’s, a 1,011-997 win over Lincoln Memorial and a 956-819 win against UAB.
Emma Stull led A-State with 1,080 pinfall over five traditional matches, including a high of 266 and four games above 200. Karli VanDuinen and Brooklyn Buchanan each totaled 1,031 pins with four games above 200. Faith Welch bowled four games and totaled 742 pins while Maggie Thoma bowled the first three games and downed 674. Malaya Chavez bowled the final two games totaling 367 pins and Saralyne Nassberg bowled one game totaling 207.
No. 1 Jacksonville State leads total pinfall with 10,324 pins just ahead of the third-ranked Red Wolves with 10,289. Host No. 4 North Carolina A&T is third with 10,230 followed by No. 5 Vanderbilt (10,166).
Three Baker best-of-seven bracket matches await A-State on Sunday to close out the event. Each match is streamed live on the A-State Bowling YouTube page.
