A-State Fifth Entering Final Day of Music City Classic


SMYRNA, Tenn. (3/16/24) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team rolled 4,936 pins in five traditional games and stands fifth among 33 teams at the Music City Classic.

A-State (78-23) opened the day with a 1,020-964 margin against No. 9 Maryville. Lincoln Memorial edged the Red Wolves 1,028-999, the first loss of the season against an unranked foe, and No. 10 Sam Houston topped A-State 1,042-957. The Red Wolves closed out the day with a 937-852 win over Kentucky Wesleyan and a 1,023-941 tally over No. 11 Stephen F. Austin.

Emma Stull paced A-State with a total of 1,129 pins over five games bowled, an average of 225.8, fourth-best among the 218 individuals that bowled. All five games were above 212 with a high game of 237 against Kentucky Wesleyan. Karli VanDuinen downed 993 pins in five games while Faith Welch rolled 984 pins. Malaya Chavez bowled four games and totaled 773 pins, Brooklyn Buchanan had 523 pins in three games and Saralyne Nassberg totaled 363 pins in three games. Maggie Thoma bowled in the first game and had 171 pins.

A-State will meet Vanderbilt in the first of three bracket play matches Sunday. All matches are streamed live on YouTube by searching for A-State bowling.
