NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The National Tenpin Coaches Association announced its all-region and all-rookie teams Wednesday, naming Paige Peters and Victoria Varano all-central region and Haley Lindley all-rookie. Conference USA also selected Peters and Varano to its all-conference teams.
Toms River, New Jersey, native Peters was selected to the All-CUSA and all-central region first teams. It is her third all-region selection and second all-conference nod (2022 All-Southland Bowling League). After an injury-plagued sophomore season, the two-time All-American returned to the lanes to lead Vanderbilt’s individual scoring at six of 10 regular season events and earn spots on four all-tournament teams. During the regular season, Peters boasted the fourth highest scoring average in the nation, averaging 21.098 pins per frame. At Destination Orlando, where she was the individual runner-up, she compiled the third best five-game tournament average in program history, 239.80. At the Mid-Winter Invitational, she was a part of the seventh 300 Baker game in Vanderbilt’s history. Twice this season, she earned nods from the league, being named Conference USA’s first-ever Bowler of the Month in October and January’s Newcomer of the Month.
A sophomore from Stony Point, New York, Varano was named all-region honorable mention and All-CUSA second team. In March, she was selected to the Conference USA All-Academic Team. This season, Varano was ranked fifth in individual single pin spare percentage (93.3%) and eighth in individual strike percentage (53.5%) among Conference USA student-athletes. She was the 10th overall finisher at the Stallings Invitational with a. 212.00 average, striking 13 times in a row from the anchor spot on Day 3 of the event. Among the Northeast Classic’s 236-woman field, Varano was the 15th individual finisher with a 214.60 average. As the anchor, she contributed to the Commodores’ seventh 300 Baker game in their history at the Mid-Winter Invitational.
Lindley was selected to the NTCA All-Rookie first team. The freshman from Greenwood, South Carolina, made an immediate impact on the Vanderbilt bowling team, making the all-tournament team at Destination Orlando, only her second collegiate bowling event, with a 230.20 scoring average. Starting the season as the leadoff bowler, Lindley eventually moved into the anchor spot where she and Varano rotated.
