Grand Rapids, Mich. – Every week during the school year, the Aquinas athletic communications department recognizes the accomplishments of two student-athletes by naming them Saints of the Week. In the spotlights for the week of October 1 – October 7, these student-athletes are:
Evan Bennett, Men’s Swim and Dive
In his first competition of the year, Evan Bennett has already qualified for nationals in March with his performance on the one-meter springboard. He posted a score of 259.55 points, putting himself well ahead of everyone else on the board on Saturday.
Bennett is looking to build off of his success from last season where he was named a two-time NAIA All-American on the springboard. Bennett earned a pair of third-place finishes at nationals last season and holds the Aquinas record for both the one-meter and the three-meter springboard.
Emma Dale, Women’s Swim and Dive
Emma Dale made an incredible debut for the Saints on Saturday. The freshman from Hudsonville competed in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke and shattered the all-time Aquinas records in both events. She recorded a time of 1:31.41 in the 100-yard and 2:41.86 in the 200-yard to top the Aquinas record books in her first ever meet.
