Bulldogs Complete Season Opener at Destination Orlando Invitational


ORLANDO, Fla | The Alabama A&M University bowling team opened its season at the Destin Orlando Invitational over the weekend at SKY Lanes, hosted by Sacred Heart University.   

AAMU went 5-8 and finished 19th of 24.  

The Maroon and White picked up its first victory in the first bakers match against SWAC institution Prairie View A&M, rolling a 792 to the Panthers’ 719. AAMU stunned the tournament after upsetting #3 Youngstown State in traditional play 931-930. The Bulldogs picked up another ranked victory in traditional play, defeating #12 Mount St. Mary’s 976-904. On Sunday, Alabama A&M lost a close seven game match against Wright College, four games to three and went on to sweep Emmanuel University, four games to none for the its final victory of the Invitational. 

Junior Alexis Orchard and Freshman Samantha Mason were the standouts over the weekend, rolling a 941 and 933 respectively.  

The Bulldogs are set to compete at the Virginia Union Invitational on October 25th –27th in Midlothian Virginia at Bowl America Southwest.
