MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University women’s bowling team went 4-1 to lead the team standings after day one of the ISTAP Hornet Bowling Invitational at Bowlero Alley.
The Lady Hornets finished the day with a total pin count of 4669, 200 pins ahead of Southern.
ASU opened the day with a 965-815 victory over Jackson State before narrowly falling to Southern University 936-889 in the second match.
The Lady Hornets bounced back on the next two matches, earning an 859-738 win over Grambling University and a 1045-710 win over Florida A&M.
Alabama State won over in-state rival Alabama A&M, 911-825 to close the day.
Saturday’s schedule will be in reverse order for the traditional game format. The Lady Hornets will take on Alabama A&M, Florida A&M, Grambling State, Southern, and Jackson State.
