KENOSHA, Wis. (11/9/24) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team downed 5,057 pins in traditional games Saturday and is seventh among 17 teams entering bracket matches at the Ladyjack Classic.
A-State (37-12) was 3-2 in the head-to-head matches Saturday and has a record of 7-3 at the event. The Red Wolves opened the day with a 1,004-992 loss to No. 5 Nebraska but bounced back with wins over No. 24 Oklahoma Christian (1,024-1,005) and No. 15 Newman (1,005-941). No. 1 Jacksonville State edged A-State 1,061-1,040 in game four, but the Red Wolves closed out the day with a 995-927 win against No. 19 Valparaiso.
Karli VanDuinen paced A-State with 1,063 pins for an average of 212.6 while Kaylee Back downed 1,043 for an average of 208.6. Amanda Lang bowled all five matches and totaled 958 pins while Maggie Thoma rolled 893 pins over the last four matches. Saraylne Nassberg played in the final two matches and totaled 406 pins while Katie Ruszczak (199), Melanie Straub (184), Alex-Anne Auclair (157) and Malaya Chavez (154) rolled in one game each.
Nebraska holds the top spot in the bracket with total pinfall of 10,350 for an average of 207.0 Jacksonville State (10,308), Maryville (10,141), Youngstown State (10,131), Vanderbilt (10,102) and Wichita State (10,044) comprise the top six.
A-State will meet No. 11 Stephen F. Austin in the seven seed versus eight seed matchup to begin three bracket matches. Live streaming of each match is available on the Red Wolves Bowling YouTube page.
