This Week In AU Athletics: November 18 - November 25


Last week in AU athletics saw the men’s hockey team pick up a sweep over the #2 ranked Adrian Bulldogs, which moved them up to the #5 spot in the latest USCHO poll. The women’s wrestling squad had a successful day Saturday, while Deedee Colon Maldonado took second NCAA Division III Midwest Regional for the women’s cross country team. In addition, the men’s basketball team took their first victory of the season on the road. Here is what to look out for this week in AU athletics:

Women’s Basketball (2-0, 0-0 NACC)

The AU women’s basketball team will host North Central College on Wednesday evening for their first home game of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 pm in Thorton Gymnasium, as the Cardinals come in with a 2-1 record on the season. The Spartans will then travel to Richmond, Indiana for the Melissa Johnson / Hope Classic. AU will take on Earlham College on Friday at 6:30 pm (cst) / 7:30 pm (est) and then University of Wisconsin Stevens Point at 3:00 pm (cst) / 4:00 pm (est).

Last Week:

– AU headed north to Beloit College and defeated the host Buccaneers 72-58 last Thursday night.

Eliot Dojutrek led the Spartans with 23 points and seven rebounds.

Men’s Basketball (1-2, 1-0 NACC)

The AU men’s basketball team will host University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Wednesday night, with tip-off scheduled for 7:15 pm in Thorton Gymnasium. The Warhawks come in with a 2-1 record thus far on the young season.

Last Week:

– AU made a bid for a comeback in the second half but eventually fell to North Central 78-71 last Wednesday night.

Noah Butler led the Spartans with 18 points.

– AU picked up their first win of the season last Saturday afternoon at MSOE 86-82.

– The Spartans needed overtime with a four-point play from Isaiah Davis late in the game giving AU the win.

#5 Men’s Hockey (6-0-0, 4-0-0 NCHA)

The AU men’s hockey team will continue play on Friday when they travel to #2 St. Norbert College. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm in De Pere, Wisconsin. The Spartans will continue action on Saturday with the Green Knights, with that puck drop scheduled for 4:00 pm as the Green Knights hold a perfect 7-0-0…
