Wehmeier Announced as ECC Women's Bowling Scholar Athlete of the Year

West Babylon, N.Y. – To kick off the month of July, Megan Wehmeier was announced as the East Coast Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year for the sport of women’s bowling, the league office announced on July 1.

To be eligible for the award, All ECC Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipients hold at least a 3.30 GPA, are a starter or key reserve and have reached at least sophomore standing both athletically and academically.

Wehmeier, a senior Psychology and Criminal Justice major with a 3.87 GPA, earns the honor after being named to the ECC All-Conference Third Team. A standout in Baker format, Wehmeier ranked sixth in the conference with an 18.98 frame average in the 10th frame. The Oklahoma native also finished tied for team lead with a 191.3 Baker average.

This year, the Panthers looked to return the ECC title to Garden City, but fell short to Wilmington at Coram Country Lanes on March 27. The Panthers lost the first two rounds of the ‘Mega-Match’ to the Wildcats, dropping the traditional match by a 1,091-992 final and the best-of-five Baker match in five games.
