Baker University – Baker Bowling Performs Well at Jayhawk Collegiate Classic

LAWRENCE, Kan. – This past weekend, the Baker bowling teams competed in the Jayhawk Collegiate Classic Tournaments with the men competing in Topeka, while the women competed in Lawrence.

In the first tournament, the men were able to finish in sixth place, scoring a team total of 4,151 and a Baker total of 2,954 to post an overall total of 7,105. Zach Brehm was able to finish on top for the Wildcats, scoring an average of 221.5, with his best game coming in game two with a score of 236. Matthew Carpenter was the only other Wildcats in the top-20 on day one, finishing in 11th place with an average of 211.3.

Baker was able to move up one spot in the second tournament of the weekend, finishing in fifth place with an overall total of 6,745. In the second tournament, Brehm led the team once again, this time with a 15th place finish and an average of 197, while Dillon Harris was able to finish in 27th.

On the women’s side, the Wildcats were able to finish in fourth place on day one off the tournament, scoring a total of 7,013. Emily Stamper was the top finisher for the Wildcats, taking home second place with an average of 213, with her best game coming in game four with a 236. Both Megan Carpenter and Olivia Kopala also finished in the top-10, taking home fifth and 10th respectively.

In the second tournament, Baker was able to bring home a second place finish, scoring a total of 6,681 on the day. Caitlin Lucas led Baker on day two, finishing in second place with an average of 204 and a best game of 233. Megan Carpenter finished in fifth once again, with an average of 193.5.

The Baker women will now compete in the NAIA National Championships on March 26-28, while the men will wait until April 16-18 to compete in the USBC Sectionals.
