A-State Finishes Eighth at Prairie View Invite


ARLINGTON, Texas (1/29/23) – The Arkansas State women’s bowling team finished among 12 teams at the Prairie View Invitational that concluded Sunday.

A-State (37-17) closed out traditional match play with a 970-924 loss to Sam Houston and met the Bearkats to open bracket play. The Red Wolves dropped game one of the best-of-seven series 203-132 and the Bearkats edged A-State 185-180 in game two. Sam Houston won game three 212-193, but A-State forced a game five with a 210-178 margin in game four.  Sam Houston took the 4-1 victory in the series with a 246-182 decisive game five.

The Red Wolves met Youngstown State in the matchup to determine seventh place. The Baker series went the distance with the Penguins coming out on top. A-State won game one (187-172), three (200-189) and five (179-145) and Youngstown State took games two (193-188), four (198-152) and six (225-182) forcing the deciding game seven. The Penguins took the final game 211-188 to take seventh place and dropped the Red Wolves to eighth.

Vanderbilt topped Stephen F. Austin to take first place while Nebraska edged McKendree to take third. A-State continues the spring slate Feb. 10-12 at the Sunshine State Classic in Orlando, Fla.
