Bowling Opens 2022-23 Campaign at Bud Whitman Memorial

New Castle, Del. – With seven new faces, Arthur O’Connor took to the lanes last weekend for the start of his first full season as head coach, at the Bud Whitman Memorial — hosted by Chestnut Hill College at Bowlerama.

Although the team posted an 0-8 record in its initial outing of the 2023-24 campaign, O’Connor highlighted the progress made over those two days:

“The team represented itself very well in the first competition with basically eight ladies that have never bowled together before. They look forward to improving with each event.”

In the team’s high game of the weekend, the ‘Cats struck out, bowling eight consecutive strikes to finish out the match, despite falling to Caldwell in their Baker contest, 880-860.

The Panthers also exceeded an 800 series in their traditional match against Howard, but lost by a narrow margin of 55 pins (856-801).

Tiffany Wong averaged a 154 in her first collegiate action, and Carly Wu — a second-year transfer from St. Francis Brooklyn — raised her 10-pin conversion rate to 80 percent.

O’Connor and his Adelphi squad will now prepare for this upcoming weekend’s Sacred Heart University Bowl for the Cure Tournament at AMF Circle Lanes in East Haven, Conn.
