Spartan have strong final day to finish 9th at Valpo Classic

How it happened

The Aurora University women’s bowling team took on a strong field at the Valparaiso University Classic in Dyer, Indiana. The Spartans finished strong in bracket play on Sunday to finish ninth overall.

On the first day of the tournament that consisted of baker play, the Spartans had a total pin fall for the day, shooting a 3,466 overall and going 3-1 on the day.

Day two was traditional matches with AU going up against multiple ranked opponents. AU knocked down 4,279 pins on the day.

On the third and final day, the Spartans came into bracket play ranked 12th but won all three matches, defeating Marian University 4-1, Lewis University and Wright State University both 4-3 to finish ninth.

The Spartans would wind up with an 6-6 record for the weekend.

Emilie Pleshar was the top individual Spartan finishing 10th overall with a 193.4 average and Annemarie Ruzevich finished 25th with a 180.8 average.

Alyssa Alexander finished 46th averaging 144.8

Next action for the Spartan women’s bowling team comes on Thursday, November 9 when they travel Motiv LadyJack Classic. The classic will take place at Sheridan Lanes in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
