AAMU Upsets #5 SFA at Mid-Winter Invitational


JONESBORO, Ark. | The Alabama A&M University women’s bowling team completed play on Sunday at the Mid-Winter Invitational, hosted by Arkansas State, at Hijinx.
 

Alabama A&M went 3-10 during the weekend and finished 16th out of 18 teams. The Bulldogs biggest got victories over No. 5 Stephen F. Austin and Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival Alabama State. In bracket play, AAMU defeated Central Missouri, 4-0, before falling to Alabama State and Central Missouri to finish 16th.
 
Individually, Rose Ugbinada led the Bulldogs by placing 50th, averaging a 922 total pinfall in five traditional matches. She had two matches of 200 or more, including rolling a 214. Nariya Jackson finished 51st at 918 and rolled highs of 202 and 203. 
 
Nila Dulcio (62nd) recorded an 848 total pinfall and Tamyra Long tallied an 803 pinfall. Megan Whorton played in three traditional matches and averaged a 147.6 pinfall and Alexis Orchard registered a 157.5 pinfall in two matches.

Alabama A&M will take a week off before returning to action March 1-3 in Atlanta, Ga. at the TNBA/HBCU Invitational at the Southern Lanes.
