Dores Bound for the Big Easy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 4 Vanderbilt bowling team is back in action Friday at the Colonial Lanes Classic in New Orleans, Louisiana.

While this will be Vandy’s first time competing in this tournament, Colonial Lanes is the site of the Conference USA Bowling Tournament, so the Commodores have bowled at these lanes in the past.

Vanderbilt will see several familiar opponents at this event, including Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Emmanuel, Jackson State, No. 7 Louisiana Tech, Newman, No. 6 North Carolina A&T, No. 24 Oklahoma Christian, Prairie View A&M, No. 18 Sacred Heart, No. 8 Sam Houston State, No. 11 Stephen F. Austin, Southern, Texas Southern, No. 13 Tulane, RV UAB and No. 17 Wichita State.

The tournament will follow a normal NCAA schedule with five sets of five Baker matches Friday at 9:45 a.m., five traditional games Saturday at 8:55 a.m. and a best-of-seven Baker bracket Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

The Dores are coming off a fifth-place finish at the Ladyjack Classic a week ago. Despite missing out on qualifying for the championship bracket, the Dores had several bright moments in Kenosha, one of those being setting a school record for the highest team traditional game. Isabel Allen (247), Alyssa Ballard (248), Kailee Channell (248), Natalie Kent (234) and Haley Lindley (260) combined to bowl 1,237, surpassing the previous record by a single pin. Allen also made her second all-tournament team of the season, finishing second on the leaderboard with scores of 216, 259, 247, 213 and 195.

Action gets underway Friday at 9:45 a.m. with five sets of five Baker matches. Fans can watch the matches on YouTube and follow @VandyBowling on X/Twitter for live updates.
