NEW ORLEANS, La. | Alabama State returns to the lanes competing at the Colonial Lanes Classic hosted by Tulane University starting on Saturday, Nov. 16. The event is the final event of the fall for the Lady Horents.
Colonial lanes is located at 6601 Jefferson Hwy, Harahan, LA 70123. Fans can view the live stream on Facebook at BamaStateBOWL and on bamastatesports.com each day.
The 18-team field includes: #4 Vanderbilt, #6 North Carolina A&T, #7 Louisiana Tech, #8 Sam Houston, #11 Stephen F. Austin, #13 Tulane, #15 Newman, #17 Wichita State, #18 Sacred Heart, #24 Oklahoma Christian, RV UAB, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Emmanuel, Prairie View A&M, Jackson State, Southern, and Texas Southern.
Alabama State owns six wins over nationally ranked opponents including three over host Tulane University. Overall, ASU has 10 wins over teams that are nationally ranked or received votes.
The schedule of the tournament is as follows:
- Friday – Five Baker matches starting at 9:45 AM CT
- Saturday – Five traditional matches starting at 8:55 AM CT
- Sunday – Three best-of-seven Baker matches starting at 8:30 AM CT to determine final placings

Baker matches are structured with five players combining to bowl one game, each bowling two frames. Player, one bowls frames 1 and 6, player, two bowls frames 2 and 7, player three bowls frames 3 and 8, player four bowls frames 4 and 9 and player 5 bowls frames 5 and 10. In traditional matches, five players each bowl an individual game, with all five games added together.
Last time out, Alabama State finished second a the ISTAP Hornet Invitational with Lyric O’Steen and Jenna Knight finished 1-2 in the individual standings.
