Set to Host the 2022 ISTAP Hornet Invitational

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Alabama State University Lady Hornets Bowling team will host the 2022 ISTAP Hornet Classic on Thursday, Nov. 17-20.
 
The event will be held at @ AMF Bowlero located at 1661 Eastern Blvd in Montgomery. Admission is free to the public.
 
“We are excited to host the 2022 Hornet Invitational and invite all ASU fans as well as bowling enthusiasts to come out and watch some talented collegiate bowling, “ASU Head Bowling Coach Andrew Chatmon said. “This will also be a great chance to see our ladies perform on their home lanes for the first time this season. 
 
ASU opened the fall with a third-place finish at the Rattler Invitational hosted by Florida A&M in Pensacola, Fla., but look to close the fall strong after facing tough fields at Tulane’s Colonial Lanes Classic and at the Sam Houston Kat Clash. 
 
The tournament will consist of a three-day schedule with lane draws taking place on Friday morning at the coaches meeting. The tournament will use a scratch scoring system and will be based on match wins and losses. Teams will compete in five Baker-style matches on Friday beginning at 8:45 am.
  
 The teams will compete in five Traditional-style matches on Saturday, beginning at 9:15 am, before being seeded on Sunday based on total pins for the bracket round for a best of seven series to determine the winner. Awards will be announced at the conclusion of the tournament at 12:30 pm.
 
Participating Teams:
Alabama State University will host Alabama A&M (AAMU), Florida A&M (FAMU), Jackson State (JSU), Grambling State, Southern University, Tusculum, and Alabama Birmingham (UAB) for the three-day event.
 
The Teams are schedule to practice on Thursday from 2pm to 4pm at Bowlero, with competition set for Friday and Saturday.
