Women's bowling competes at Warhawk Open


ADDISON, Ill. — Augie women’s bowling traveled to Stardust Bowl over the weekend to compete in the Warhawk Open hosted by UW-Whitewater. The Vikings posted a 7489 overall team score and placed 17th out of 24 teams across the two-day tournament.

The Vikings opened with traditional format competition, amassing early success with an 889 score in game one on Saturday. Madelyn Lathrop paced the Vikings in scoring, leading off with a 200 roll in game one. Lathrop placed 42nd among all bowlers across the weekend, throwing a high of 211 with an overall score of 1048.

Megan Kukulka followed closely behind Lathrop, placing 58th and tossing highs of 194 and 190. After her performance on day one, Kukulka managed the anchor position for multiple Baker matches Sunday. Kukulka this season is rolling 29 pins above her 2021-22 season average.

Elsewhere for the Vikings, Sam Olson rolled a season-high score of 185 while also cleaning up 65% of her spares in the traditional format, leading the team. Sam Novak continued her season-long consistency, tossing a high of 190 and converting 21 of her 22 makeable spares.  

The Vikings’ rolled high scores of 198 and 196 in Baker at the Warhawk Open. 

Augie will head back to Addison, Ill., on January 14-15 for the Midwest Classic. The competition will be held again at Stardust Bowl and can be streamed here
