Bowling Starts Off Strong at Seahawk Invitational

Staten Island, N.Y. – In a mini-tournament with three other local schools, the Adelphi University women’s bowling team competed last weekend at the Seahawk Invitational, hosted by Wagner College at Rab’s Country Lanes.

Adelphi, LIU, Molloy and Wagner all went toe-to-toe in a round robin, beginning with a successful traditional outing for the Panthers.

Backed by a 948 series against LIU, Adelphi tallied the second-highest total pinfall of the four teams in the traditional tournament at 4,301.

The ‘Cats have continued to raise the bar each time out. Adelphi also rolled an 881 and an 874 in their victories over Molloy and Wagner, respectively.

Nearly Adelphi’s entire line-up ranked among the Top 10 traditional bowlers, highlighted by Blanca Fraticelli’s 188.0 average that earned her a second-place finish and All-Tournament honors.

A difference of almost fifteen pins distanced Fraticelli from capturing the individual championship. The senior captain rolled three 200 games and posted a season-high 940 series in the process.

Fraticelli played her best traditional game yet this season, tallying a mark in 42-of-50 (84.0 percent) frames. She tossed 19 strikes and converted 23-of-31 spare attempts across the five matches.

Tiffany Wong threw 44.0 percent strikes (22-of-50) to place sixth with a 181.0 average, while Brianna Tringali bowled a 202.0 average in the 10th frame to slingshot herself into eighth on the leaderboard.

Head Coach Arthur O’Connor and his Adelphi squad will travel to Woodbridge, Va. next weekend (Nov. 18-19) for their final tune-up before the holiday break, at the UMES Hawk Classic.
