A-State Fifth After First Day of Ladyjack Classic


KENOSHA, Wis. (11/10/23) – Begging play at its final fall tournament this season, the Arkansas State women’s bowling team is fifth among 16 teams at the Ladyjack Classic hosted by Stephen F. Austin.

A-State (25-6) dropped its first Baker match of the day, but took the next four matches to begin 4-1 in the three-day tournament. After falling to No. 6 Youngstown State in the opener 1,035-973, the second-ranked Red Wolves posted their second-highest Baker total of the season with a 1,101-921 total pinfall against Valparaiso. The Red Wolves edged No. 13 Newman by 20 pins, 973-953, and followed with victories over Marian (993-868) and Carthage (1,008-857) to close out the first day of competition.

The Red Wolves are fifth in total pinfall with 5,048 pins dropped in the first five matches for an average of 201.9. Jacksonville State leads with 5,323 followed by Nebraska (5,190), Youngstown State (5,098) and Vanderbilt (5,079).

A-State meets No. 14 McKendree, No. 3 Nebraska, No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 20 Wisconsin-Whitewater and Lewis in traditional matches beginning at 9:25 a.m.
