Four A-State Bowlers Earn NTCA All-America Honors


DEARBORN, Mich. (4/11/24) – Emma Stull, Karli VanDuinen, Brooklyn Buchanan and Faith Welch of the Arkansas State women’s bowling team were recognized by the National Tenpin Coaches Associaiton (NTCA) as All-America selections, the organization announced Thursday at an awards banquet held at the Hendry Ford Museum of American Innovation.

Stull and VanDuinen were recognized as Second Team All-America while Buchanan and Welch were Honorable Mention All-America selections. The All-America teams are a result of voting by participating head coaches. The NTCA announced its traditional All-America teams Thursday ahead of the National Collegiate Bowling Championship at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Mich.

Stull ranked 12th nationally with a player composite performance index (PCPI) percentage of 94.655. The fifth-year senior rolled a traditional average of 210.5 and a Baker average of 207.6 for an overall average of 208.7. She carried a Baker double percentage of 53.5 percent on the year and had an average score of 9.14 on the first ball. Stull compiled an overall spare conversion rate of 72.7 percent, knocking down 89.5 percent of single pin spares. Stull is honored as an All-America choice for the second consecutive season after earning honorable mention honors in 2022-23.

VanDuinen ranked 13th in the national PCPI report with a rate of 94.655 percent. The sophomore registered a traditional average of 210.0 and a Baker average of 209.1 for an overall average of 209.5. She carried a Baker double percentage of 57.9 percent and had an average pin count of 9.19 on the first ball. VanDuinen tabulated an overall spare conversion rate of 70.4 percent, rolling 86.0 percent of single pin spares. This marks the first All-America honors for VanDuinen.

Buchanan ranked 29th in the PCPI with a rate of 85.655 percent. The senior compiled a traditional average of 203.6 and a Baker average of 199.9 for an overall average of 201.3. She carried a Baker double percentage of 46.4 percent and downed an average of 9.03 pins on the first ball. Buchanan registered an overall spare conversion rate of 73.3 percent, downing 89.3 percent of single pin spares. This is the third All-America honor for Buchanan after she was named first team in 2021-22 and third team in 2022-23.
