Alley Toppers sixth in Ohio; Turberville lands top five

CINCINNATI, Ohio – (Results) Blue Mountain College Men’s Bowling continued a steady rise for the 2021-22 season over the weekend, coming in sixth at the Mid-South Conference’s Cincinnati Collegiate Classic.

The Alley Toppers would total 8,353 pins in the event, while Drew Turberville (JR/Tupelo, Miss.) led his squad with a fifth-place finish with 1,854 total pins.

Tennessee Southern captured the title with a total of 9,079 pins.  The two-day event consisted of five team games bowled on Saturday and four team games on Sunday. Tennessee Southern was led by Hayden Stippich who finished runner-up with a total of 1,878 pins.

Blue Mountain’s Lucas Hartigan (SR/Tupelo, Miss.) and Josh Turberville (FR/Tupelo, Miss.) both turned in Top 40 spots, with Hartigan totaling 1,690 pins in 35th and Turberville netting 1,688 in 36th.

Nik Wilcher (JR/Kossuth, Miss.) was 42nd for BMC, dropping 1,649 pins, Mason Timmons was 99th totaling 1,392 pins, Jay Henderson (SR/Tupelo, Miss.) was 111th with 1,298 pins, Logan Akins was 113th with 1,289 pins, Greyson Blair (FR/Mantachie, Miss.) netted 1,198 pins in 131st, Will Porter (SO/Pontotoc, Miss.) was 134th with 1,163 pins, Cole Tomlin (SR/Kossuth, Miss.) was 143rd with 1,066 pins and Peter Moore (JR/Marietta, Miss.) was 207th dropping 406 pins.

BMC head coach Creighton Nelms said, “Our team is really coming together.  This is our best finish ever for an MSC event.  The hard work is finally paying off, and to see where we have come since the beginning of the year is amazing.  Our first MSC event of the season we were 13 out of 14 teams; in this one we were fourth of 14.  We’re really looking to make a late-season push to get ready for the conference championship.”

Up next for the Alley Toppers is the SCAD Baker Bash Jan. 29-20 in Woodstock, Ga.
