Huskers Finalize Day Three at Team USA Trials


Las Vegas, Nev. – After day three of qualifying, freshman Jillian Martin holds strong as she sits in second place overall at the 2023 United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Team USA Trials. She has a total pinfall of 3,859 and is tied for first in the combined point standings with 21. 

Among the six Nebraska bowlers competing, Crystal Elliott is 17th, Kendyl Hofmeister is 28th, Anna Callan is 78th, Kayla Verstraete is 40th and Marissa Cosentini is 139th. 

Current Husker Assistant Coach Julia Bond has also made a significant placement rise and now sits in ninth with a total pinfall of 3,664. Former assistant coach and Husker great Shannon Pluhowsky is 64th with a total pinfall of 3,381.   

The USA Trials will last two more days. Tomorrow will consist of another qualifying round (round four) and Saturday will serve as round five of qualifying. Upon completion of the qualifying rounds, the top three amateur bowlers will advance to compete in a stepladder final bracket in which the final results will be solidified, and the announcement of the 2023 Team USA roster will be occur.
