Two Huskers Earn All-Region Accolades

Two members of the University of Nebraska bowling team were selected to the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) All-Region Teams announced Wednesday.

Senior Crystal Elliott and freshman Jillian Martin were both first-team honorees in the Central Region. Both Huskers will be considered for All-America honors when the NTCA announces its All-Americans Thursday night in Las Vegas.

Elliott was named a first-team Central Region selection for the second time in her career, as she averaged 211.6 on the season heading into this week’s NCAA Championships. She is currently ranked No. 4 nationally in individual scoring average and has posted three top-five finishes this season, including an individual title at the Stormin‘ Blue and White Vegas Classic. Elliott will be looking for her second first-team All-America award, as she was a first-team honoree and NTCA Bowler of the Year in 2021.

Martin is honored for the first time her career with a first-team selection. She competed in all nine regular-season tournaments and posted three top-five finishes and five top-10 performances.  She is currently ranked No. 2 nationally in scoring average with a 215.7. Martin was the MVP of the Motiv Penguin Classic and placed second at the Bearcat Roto Grip Open earlier this season. In addition, Martin was also named to the 2023 Team USA in January.

There are two all-region teams – Northeast and Central – which select 16 student-athletes per region. Each team includes six first-team honorees, five second-team selections and five honorable-mention picks.

The Huskers will face McKendree in the first round of the National Collegiate Women’s Bowling Championship Friday morning at 11 a.m. (central) at the South Point Bowling Plaza. Fans can follow along on Husker bowling social media channels and watch live on NCAA.com.
