BOWIE, MD — The Bowie State women’s bowling team will travel to Glen Allen, Va., this weekend to compete in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up hosted by Virginia Union University. The three-day event will take place at Bowl America Southwest beginning Friday, Feb. 23 through Sunday, Feb. 25.

Bowl America Southwest is located at 11532 Hull Street Road, Midlothian, Va. 23112.

The Bulldogs are slated to face members of the CIAA Southern Division including defending CIAA Champions Fayetteville State, Johnson C. Smith, Livingstone and Shaw.

Last Time Out

Bowie State (23-1, 23-1 CIAA) hasn’t seen action since the CIAA Event II back on Jan. 26-28 in Raleigh, N.C. The Bulldogs swept opening day and day two, led by Kamryn Smith who rolled a 201 in the game versus Elizabeth City State while TaVera Johnson combined for a total pinfall of 857 with all five games with at least a 163. BSU went through all Northern Division opponents without a hiccup the first two days but during Bakers, BSU’s 21-game win-streak would be snapped by Virginia Union (825-709).

Smith Tabbed 2X CIAA Rookie of the Month

Freshman bowler Kamryn Smith was named the CIAA’s Bowling Rookie of the Month twice this season. Most recently, she earned the nod for the month of February leading all freshman bowlers with an average of 169.88 in route to the Bulldogs to an 11-1 record during the CIAA Event II during the weekend of Jan. 26-28 in Raleigh, N.C.

Up Next

Bowie State will travel to Charlotte, N.C. Mar. 15 – 17 for the CIAA Event III. The event is the regular season finale for the Bulldogs as the 2024 CIAA Women’s Bowling Championship will take place in Salem, Va. on Mar. 30-31.
