Lady Hornets Advance To SWAC Bowling Championship


ARLINGTON, Texas | Alabama State University bowling defeated Southern University to advance to the Buick SWAC Bowling Championship match for the second straight season on Saturday.

Alabama State won the traditional round 1017-839 before and Southern won the baker match 983-953.

The Hornets, who will be vying for ASU’s third SWAC Bowling Tournament Crown, await the winner of Southern and Jackson State on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the title round.

Alabama State occupies six of the top seven spots in the individual standings heading into Sunday.

Savanna Razor tops the individual standings with a 241.0 after posting a 226 and a 256 over the first two days.

Lyric O’Steen is third with a 208.0 average, carding a 440 (225-215) over the two days.

Alahna DeGruy (412 – 206.0) is fourth, Emily Price is sixth (387 0 193.5), and Payton Hartgrove is sixth (395 –192.5).

The Lady Hornets seek the school’s bowling title under Head Coach Andrew Chatmon.
